A few years ago, he (+ 1 wife, +1 child) got a ‘great’ (cancellation) deal on a 4 bed detached family house with 1 parking space and no front garden. There’s no visitor parking apparently. Both him and his missus have cars so he’d normally just park on the grass verge opposite his house.

All seemed to be going well until his management company painted double yellow lines on the street outside his home. Well, you can guess what happened next. He got clamped outside his own house one night! So that was it, they were moving. He wasn’t going to put up with this shite no more. Anyway, all their friends had houses on 1/2 an acre in the ‘countryside’ (Rathoath) anyway.

Yesterday it was announced that the new Metro line to the Airport and Swords would effectively run past the front of his estate. Now his house is going to be worth megabucks. The metro line doesn’t mean anything to him personally since he’s got a 4×4. Turns out he won’t be moving afterall.

However, he’s just had a second baby. Once the ‘shock’ of that wears off, I suspect they’ll move upwardly mobile to rural Rathoath and rent out the original house. He works in a cash business (not drugs!) so it’ll all work out in the end.

It’s a funny old world, innit.

And yes, that is a floral bouquet bouncing off your nasal passage.

…Once the deal is posted out to them. Then all they have to do is post the yea/nay forms back to HQ.

It’s no wonder the British are masters at satire.

Aughrim in Co Wicklow won the 2007 Tidy Towns competition. Apparently, one of the local councillors said that ‘pride’ had now been restored to the town after the 1691 Battle of Aughrim.

Only problem is…the Battle of Aughrim took place in Co Galway on the opposite side of Ireland. Still, I guess it’s easy to get confused over something that happened over 300 years ago…

I was forced to listen to the Dublin V Kerry match on the radio today. My favourite quote occurred when a Kerry player received an injury in an off-the-ball incident. The commentator said: ‘I didn’t see what happened. I stress I didn’t see what happened so he may have injured himself falling over’.

Afterwards, in the pub, as the Dublin fans (in their jerseys) watched the Man United soccer highlights on Sky, one fan shouted across the room at his mate, ‘You’re an arselicker’. The mate, deep in conversation, interrupted said conversation and roared back, ‘Arselicker? Me bollix!’

In both cases, all I could think of was, ‘The mind boggles…’

Imagine if he committed suicide. That would be unfortunate enough but imagine his obituary, ‘Partridge shot by gun‘. I mean, nobody would read it and nobody would remember him.

Anyhow, her current contract is up and she’s looking for work. She’s considering offers over at gissajob.

So now, about the photograph. If you look on his fingernails, you can see some of the legacy of that treatment. On each of his fingernails there is a strong white line which is gradually being forced upwards by new, healthy nail beneath.

Underneath that line should be a cancer free man, if the doctors are right.

It’s funny and sad how ‘sex’ is treated in both countries while the BBC2 elephant documentary is just plain odd.

But, but, what’s that buried near midnight on BBC1? Hmmm. There’s a show on Peter Singer. Peter Singer (wiki) is an Australian philosopher whose writings made me become a vegetarian way back when. I’m trying to remember stuff from a long time ago but, to use the jargon, he takes an extreme utilitarian viewpoint (wiki). At first blush, his views are quite radical and even outrageous. I’ve never jumped completely on his bandwagon but he has an interesting mind. Religious groups hate him and think he’s immoral. So he can’t be all bad, then. It’s past my bedtime so I’ll be taping it and I’d encourage you do the same.

As you’ve probably guessed, I’m a bit grumpy because, last Tuesday, Sky showed the last episode ever of Stargate SG1. I’ve now got nothing to watch (sob, sob) so I’ll have to read a book or something. Maybe I could volunteer to help the elephants at Dublin Zoo??
