According to Dublin City Council’s website, the population of Rathmines = 4.9M people.

    You realise that that this the phone number of the CSO – typical Dubs they leave out the area code ;)

    Hi Des,
    No, I didn’t realise.

    TBH, the CSO website is not one I visit regularly. But, it’s a typical example of civil service mentality…

    – Hey, Dublin civil servants*, what’s the population of Rathmines.
    – Well now, that’s not my department.
    – Whose department is it?
    – I can’t provide you with that information because it’s above my pay grade.
    – You’re joking?
    – No. Try phoning this number for more information…

    I know they’re not ‘technically’ Civil Servants, Public Servants, Knights of the Realm, 10th level Masters of the Dungeon but, at the heart of it, they’re all pen-pushing, paper-filling, time-wasters.
