Saturday Sunshine

Proof (of sorts) that the sun did shine today in Dublin. This statue was unveiled in 2003 to commemerate Brendan Behan‘s 1953 play, The Quare Fellow. Mountjoy prison is on the left of the picture but it’s hidden behind the trees. The statue is located on the corner of Dorset Street and Whitword Road.

And I’m sure Behan would be proud that the place is littered with beer cans and broken bottles. It just occurred to me that you don’t see 2-litre cider bottles around anymore. I wonder if they were banned?

Don’t know if this is true but wikipedia (link above) says:
His last words were to several nuns standing over his bed, “God bless you, may your sons all be bishops.”
