On the 18th day of Christmas

For soon-to-be obvious reasons, I’m not going to name the village I’m staying in tonight . They have a Main Street and it has a display of Christmas lights above the street. Apparently there’s a fight every year between the traders and the council about the cost that each side should contribute towards their upkeep.

I’m don’t think the discussions went well this year because the lights were turned off at 6pm! I wonder if it was a power glitch or will they stay turned off all night?

Priceless! Only in holy Catholic Ireland could people mix money and religion and fight over Christmas!

And what do you mean by that disparaging remark, she says, covering her own black eye… :-)

    Hi,
I was too quick to rush to judgement. I think it was a power glitch. In fact, looking at the Xmas lights in a couple of towns and villages the past few days has ‘melted’ my heart a bit.

I’m quite looking forward to Christmas now.
