I know I’ve slagged astronomy ireland in the past. Well, I’ve signed up for their newsletter so I could slag them some more! Anyway, their latest newsletter contains the following (not quite) earth-shattering news that:
Uranus will make a rare close approach to the Moon [on] Tuesday Nov. 28 and we are setting up telescopes all around Ireland at 8pm.
Leaving aside jokes about the size of my backside and the need for telescopes… I know how they feel. My backside has often come close to mooning.
That’s not me in the photo, btw. I’m much more muscular (LOL)!!
It’s someone I lost touch with many moons ago. I always thought that I would see him in the newspapers some day (but not in a good way, if you know what I mean). Here’s a non-libellous example. When we were teenagers, he fancied this girl and wanted to impress her with his soon-to-be tan. He wanted to maximise his tanning time since Irish summers are so short. So, he simply covered himself in cooking oil and burned, baby, burned.
Sadly, he never did get the girl. But he did buy a large, erm, artistic video collection in the months and years after that. And he was proud to show these videos to us. Weird. I wonder where he is now?
