Dublin birds

More photos from my few days off work.

The swan, ducks and ducklings were photographed on the Royal Canal near Phibsboro. The pigeons were photographed in the gardens beside St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin 8. The first performance of Handel’s Messiah took place in the Cathedral in 1742. The writer and satirist Jonathan Swift was Dean of the Cathedral from 1713 to 1745

The penultimate photograph was taken from the new Sean O’Casey bridge that spans the Liffey from the northern to the southern sections of the docklands. Here’s a lovely night time photo of the bridge by Dave Walsh.

The last photo is a gateway beside Bedford Hall, which is opposite the State Apartments, in the Dublin Castle complex.

It’s hard to believe we got such good weather in (early) October.

Nice pic of the swan in action. We’ve a lake near our house, with swans in it, and last spring I looked out the window and noticed a young swan sitting in our garden. My wife started ringing around the USPCA etc to see what we could do with it and how to get it back into the lake. I drove around to try and find the gamekeeper in the estate where the lake is.I found him, he came around and carried it in his arms and put it in the lake. A few days later the same swan was out in the village again and as it wasn’t in my garden it wasn’t my problem.I understand when swans reach a certain age they are pushed out by their parents, where they get to go I don’t know.
