The average industrial wage in Ireland is approx €30,000 (very roughly stg£20k, $40k). Plugging that information into global rich list reveals the average wage-earner in Ireland is in the top 4% of the world’s richest people. It’s a serious website but it kinda puts things into perspective when we complain about how expensive our morning Americano is.

How rich are you? >>

I’m loaded.
It’s official.
I’m the 230,260,870 richest person on earth!

The graphic above doesn’t work so well in Firefox. And I’m not sure how it’ll look in that other browser so apologies.

Someone will probably ask how rich am I? I’m in the top 1%, and, to be honest, that’s a weird place to be.

    Hi Mary,
It is weird! And a little bit uncomfortable.

    From their website…
$8 could buy you 15 organic apples OR 25 fruit trees for farmers in Honduras to grow and sell fruit at their local market.

$30 could buy you an ER DVD Boxset OR a First Aid kit for a village in Haiti.

$73 could buy you a new mobile phone OR a new mobile health clinic to care for AIDS orphans in Uganda.

$2400 could buy you a second generation High Definition TV OR schooling for an entire generation of school children in an Angolan village.
