But what does surprise me is the attribution of extraordinary fecundity to my mother, Nance O'Sullivan, who did her bit for the O'Sullivans by bearing six sons and two daughters but who can claim no credit at all for the renowned Cork soprano Cara O'Sullivan. I'm sure she would feel honoured if she could but it's just not true. The Phoenix says (Sept 22, 2006): '<i>Cara is a sister of Sindo Deputy Editor Anne Harris, although the journalist, with typical modesty, forebore to mention this relationship</i>'. Since I didn't write the caption under Cara's picture, and since Cara O'Sullivan is no relation of mine anyway, I am astonished that even the The Phoenix, on the basis of a complete falsehood should publish this latest smear on me and others in the Sunday Independent.
