Sean O’Callaghan, a former IRA man turned informer, was tied up by two men he met in a gay bar while they ransacked the house he was meant to be looking after. A court in London was told yesterday O’Callahan had met the two men in a gay bar in Ealing, West London, and invited them back to a house he was looking after for his friend, Ruth Dudley Edwards.
O’Callahan said he only chose the bar because it was the nearest. Once back at the house, the two men tied him up and burgled the house. They were seen escaping on a scooter carrying two large bags. One man was brought to trial and the jury took less than 30 minutes to convict him. The judge gaoled the man for five and a half years.
The Times reported that, ‘Mr O’Callahn could not be contacted yesterday‘. Maybe he was down the pub??
