Mental note: don’t use email in future

This is the funniest email I’ve received all week. I laughed out loud and thanked the person who sent it to me. He’s probably wondering why I congratulated him on his humourous email. I’ve changed a few indentifying details but this is the email verbatim.

Hi
I’ve been trying to sort this job out all afternoon!!! We have missed some of the testing off this job, the reason for this is that the quote that she use’s is not set up on the system correctly, the samples have been sent to XY for short term storage so when they arrive back here we can see if there is enough sample to do the test’s we missed off! If there is no sample left there is nothing we can do, the files have gone missing so we cant even check them to clarify what she has actually asked for, The only thing we can do now is wait till monday and see if the samples come back with enough in it. What me and James are going to have to do monday is get rid of the quote that is on the system and build it again with the correct testing in it, or all the other jobs are going to be wrong that come in. I’ll let you both know monday what is happening with it.

Billy has his spell-checker automatically turned on but alas…
I think he’s trying to say…
– We sent out a quote to do a set amount of work, which was accepted by the client.
– We didn’t do the work we said we would…because we misread our quote once it was accepted
– The material is stored in the wrong location…but, hey, we’ll ask nicely to have it returned
– If, and only if, we get it back, there maybe/maybe not : -) enough material left to do what we agreed to do in the first place
– The paperwork is missing so we don’t really know what we did in the first place.
– We’re not really sure what we’ll do if we get the material back
– We’re going to delete any information we do have on the system and hope for the best
