I opened a new bank account on Monday and needed to change my direct debits to the new bank account. I know there is a switching code in place for this situation but tbh, I don’t trust my old bank to do it properly. One of my direct debits is with Quinn Life for my SSIA. I rang them to see if I could change my bank details over the phone or whether I needed to write in. It went something like this…
Me: Hi, I’ve just changed bank and I pay my SSIA by direct debit. Can I give you my new details over the phone or do I have to write to you?
QL: I’ll have to check – do you mind holding?
Me: No.
QL: I’ll have to post you a direct debit mandate form. You’ll also have to pay the next month by cheque as it takes a few weeks to process the DD mandate.
Me: (to summarise and close the conversation) OK, I’ll fill out the form and return it to you with a cheque.
QL: I’ll have to check – do you mind holding?
Me: Err, ok.
QL: Yes, that’s ok.
Me: Thank you. Do I post it to HQ in Cavan or the sales support centre in Blanchardstown? (isadub, afterall, is a dub)
QL: I’ll have to check – do you mind holding?
Me: sigh…OK
QL: Either is ok. Is there anything else I can do for you?
Me: Do you know the winning lotto numbers for tonight?
QL: haha…
Me: haha…sigh
